Project

SB 1070 Authorized OCIA to issue $35 million for a long-term facility for the Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs. ODVA will use the funds, along with grants from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. The new Veterans Center at Ardmore will offers an innovative housing choice for 242 veterans that continues the trend away from the outdated institutional care models. The design is based on a hybrid model of the US Department of Veterans Affairs Small House Design Guidelines and embraces a model where the veteran and their family drive daily decisions about care. This concept is supported by the new building design where veterans are organized into 20 – unit “houses,” each house fully supporting daily care needs of the veteran through purposeful arrangement of spaces. The new Veterans Center will be a place that Veterans will be proud to call home and an opportunity to continue the active and engaged life they deserve.
